Author: macsdaddy Well, this rain has me wondering if the ditch will be skateable this year again, and wondering where else I could train for Albequerque. Here's a link to a thread at BDS posted by my bro Greg Stubbs. Includes text, video and photos of various ditches that are raced in ABQ. www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/post/bulldogskates/vpost?id=2956291

Thanks John. That 30th meeting is on the calender for sure. By the way, I encourage any skaters to post comments to Platte County. They said any people who would be interested in using their facility is welcome to comment, which would be most of the members on this forum. Here's the link if you're interested: www.platteparks.org/public_forum.htmlI chatted with Leavenworth a bit too. They were supposed to have a little sk8 get together tonight but I believe it got rained out. ARC was throwing it. They did say that they have a line on the ramps from Ft. Leavenworth so if they end up going ramp, I hope it's with those. That double mini was great. Thanks to the Fleshmans and Kyle and anyone else who has put some time and effort into Northpark. It was alot better riding there yesterday. That place has some good DIY potential. At least having some of the gaps and seams filled helped it out already.

Author: joe www.fstribune.com/story/1463582.html The above is a link to the skate evnt in Ft Scott, it was really amazing to see that thing take off like it did. That place is on it's way to a skatepark, who knew that after all these years my childhood dream of a skatepark there would finally come to be an obtainable goal. I am going to get a copy of the newspaper, cut the article and send it with a note to the former city manager that hated skaters and say how much we don't miss having him around! My friend that owns the energy drink company will alos be happy with the free plug, maybe get a few cases for the crew here in town huh? Joe

Author: joe well it looks like the Pittsburg people are onto who spilled the mercury at the skatepark.. basic story here is kids broke into a building, stole the stuff and took it to the park and played with it. Ft Scott is 30 mins' from Pittsburg and this event at that skatepark and the fact that it looks like skaters did it, may be a set back for us trying to get the ft scott park built. the small town mentality is.. skaters are bad news and stuff like this just supports narrow minded views. www.fstribune.com/story/1466332.html Joe

Author: Rusty Evening fellas. Been back from Az for a few days now and finally decided to fill you all in on our trip. Here's the lowdown: Left on Thursday afternoon. Got to Oklahoma City around 10pm and got to ride for about thirty minutes. The flow was cool. The clover bowl wasn't so great. Definately worth a stop but not a real destination. We got a couple of good lines before they turned off the lights and locked-up. We left Oklahoma City and headed to Amarillo, TX. We arrived around 3:30am. Camped out in the Rad-Mobile and realized Amarillo is just as cold as KC in November. We nearly froze to death but managed to wake up and ride at about 8am. Cold. We managed to get rad in the full pipe for a while then left for Albuquerque, NM. Albuquerque's park is BIG. The shallow pocket was about 8 feet and the deepest was deeper than Shawnee. The pool coping in one corner was made of marble and was super-slick. Also, the street course was nuts. It didn't have the typical banks and flat bar stuff. It was like a Tony Hawk Pro Skater level. All the tech kids in Shawnee would love it. We left Albuquerque for Tempe, AZ after a while. Determined to make it before the lights went out, we failed. There was a bit of light from a nearby soccer field so we cruised around for a few minutes. Took no pictures. So we headed to the Rio Vista Skatepark in Peoria, AZ. We camped out in the much-warmer Peoria and woke to ride with the Old Man Army. Rio Vista has a pretty cool flow section, a bowl and a pool. Had a good time, met a bunch of people and went for lunch. Oh, yeah! Aside from a bowl, pool and flow section, the Rio Vista park has a Starbucks! In the park! I was more stoked about it than Zach. Every park needs a starbucks. That's Calamity Jean in the pool. She killed it and also got us on the list for the last stop on our AZ tour. More on that later. After lunch we went to a park in Glendale, AZ called Union Hills. It was fun but the flow bowl was too short and slick to get fast and the bowl was basically a big square with a waterfall in the middle. Took no pictures. As we were getting bored at Union Hills a friend of Zach's asked us if we wanted to check out a pool. Duh. It belonged to a couple who used to skate and were getting back into it, or their kids were getting into it or...something. All I know is they were willing to let out-of-towners there for the OMA BBQ ride, so we did. Gnarly but not too gnarly. Not crazy like Dillon's pool, but still a challenge. After the party at the Clockher family pool, we went to the Glendale, AZ "X - Court". Stupid name but the park was too rad! The Clover bowl felt a lot like Penn but bigger and rounder. Make sense? There was also a bowl/snake run that was fast and a huge flow area. The flow area had an over-vert pocket about the size of the clamshell at Shawnee, but with a loveseat in it. Killer. We didn't get to do much in the flow area due to the twenty or so bikers. Everything there was big enough to go crazy-fast but still get on and off the lip easily. We mostly kept to the clover bowl. After that we partied. The next day was the actual OMA BBQ 2008! Chandler, AZ. A fun park. Big bowl with spine and smaller one. These two bowls are screwy. The big one has a "twinky?" in the middle that met the flat at a steep angle rather than curved tranny. Get it? It was a speed suck for sure if it didn't just throw you off your board. The smaller bowl had a "waterfall" that was about 8 inches tall. It was like rolling up and down the curb in your driveway at full speed, try to pump and you'll regret it. But after we figured 'em out, they were a blast. Ater a few hours in Chandler it started to rain, stopped after about 20 minutes and then came the dust storm. Dust storms suck. While the dust kept us from skating we were hanging out and got ourselves invited to a private pool session at the "Charlotte Pool." Just about the raddest thing ever. I guess this pool belongs to a woman who's son used to skate. In exchange for free yardwork and maintenance, Jean and a few others have access to this beauty whenever they like. We were too stoked! We sessioned it for around 2 hours and everyone there was killing it. We wrapped-up our gear and piled in the Rad-Mobile for the trip home. The trip back wasn't half as cool as the trip there. We got snow and ice coming up through AZ. We skipped Albuqueque so we wold have enough time to ride Amarillo again. When we got there, we were the only ones there again, bummer. We got some food and made it to Oklahoma City to camp out. When we woke to ride, we found it soaked, also a bummer. We headed back to KC and figured we'd stop in Wichita. (Thanks for your help Andrew and wife.) It was also wet, too many bummers. Even though the trip home was kind of a bore, we were, and still are, totally psyched about our trip. Everything went according to plan. We did nothing but skate and hang with rad folks. Add the bonuses of two killer pools and the Rad-Mobile's non-breakdown, and we had a more-than-stellar time. Phoenix, AZ is a definate skate destination. We didn't even hit all the parks in the area that weekend! Everyone should get down with OMA and make it to the BBQ next year. Too long, sorry.

Yous slashes are WILD MIKEY! On an unrealted note, I know a lot of people were asking me for help with their porch lights, so here is a guide to doing it right! First get a light socket! then get a pickle jar! take the lid and make anchor screw holes and wire holes! then run your light socket through the wire holes! (notice that I have my anchor screws there to be sure my lid wont fall off!) Now fasten your anchor screws into the celing so that the lid threads face down! Decorate your jar with whatever you want! Screw in the jar, turn on the light and dance in the warmth of your porch light! Stay tuned next time fo when we rig your break box with to many amps using short lenghts of copper wite and penny's!!!! Love, Zachary

joe, as for indoor parks in the mountains, woodward at Copper is the place to check out: www.woodwardatcopper.com/Here's about the only indoor I know of in Denver www.woodwardskateparks.net/denver/Colorado in March can be 70 degree shorts weather of cold and heavy snow. Snow melts fast out there though so your chances of riding an outdoor park along the Front Range [Denver, Colorado Springs and Fort Collins] are very good. Pretty much anywhere you go on the frontrange will have a killer park to sk8. If your driving out there or even driving from the Denver airport, you'll pass by many good parks. Just let me know when you get your travel plans together and I'll try to help point you in the right directions. Here's a good directory of alot of the parks in Colorado: www.denverskatepark.com/
