Just got word tonight that the city of Ft Scott has donated not only land but a nice sum of cash towards the construction of the skatepark. Currently there is about 50K sitting in the park fund, so construction of the cement park should begin this summer. 3years worth of work starting to pay off, I am sure there is pleanty more to do yet but nice to finally see the park come to life. I hope that when the park is done that many of the bullets will road trip an hr south of the city to skate the park. Joe

AZ, the city of ft scott has put down 5k for the blueprints to the park and that is currently on the drawing board from what i understand, I have seen a prelim drawing and it is nice! What I find really amazing is that forever and a day skaters have fought an image of rebels, slackers, criminals, etc etc. but if you look at the fact that these skaters rasied 70k in assests during a time when the economy is in the tanks and they did so in a town that is very small and economically depressed.. these kids are far from slackers! I think the goal of 100k for the park is not going to be a proble, they are 30k short and it looks like 20 of that may come from two diffrent private donors. We hope to have ground broken for the park soon!

This is exciting news! I can't wait for the grand opening. Joe, I think we should force all of our old sk8 homies to come for a reunion that weekend. That would be the RADDEST!

I think the plan is for some quarter pipes and jump ramps that the skaters made themselves in an old rough asphalt parking lot where bullies can run over the obstacles with their big trucks.

That concrete bowl thingy looks rad! The whole park looks good. Is that an actual layout for the park?
Nice work joe.............

yes Jimmy that is the actual layout. If you notice the sidewalk leading from the parking lot to the park you will see it has a hump in it. that hump goes over an concrete ditch that we used to skate way back in the day, it's shallow and steep but was/is fun.. so the location is perfect for the park speaking of location, the park will be visable in a high traffic area, easy to spot from the bypass highway and this should help keep the kids in check and out of trouble. lastly is that several organzations in town have purcahsed the park trashcans, and benches for the kids to sit on (or leave thier trash on) should be nice and thanks for the post up Dan.
