I've skated 2 sessions there now and I really enjoy this place. It's a great alternative from riding bowls. I'm more of a snake run guy than a bowl guy so I'm loving the snake run aspect of carving through the park. It's fun having so many different places to roll in and having those rolled lips to do slide tricks ala 1977 too.
Spohn Ranch did a really good job. I'm very impressed with the quality of the structure. Just a few very minor deals, but overall I think the surface is good and the coping, trannys and flow all skate well.
Special thanks to Smitty for all the time and effort that he put into this place. Job well done! Also, thanks to the City of Lee's Summit, Dennis McCoy, and everyone else who helped along the way to get this park built. It's a great new playground and addition to our KC skate scene.

Jimmy You are right on with giving the area bowls a break, it is nice to do roll in's and just flow a bit. fun park!

This park is why I started skating again...although I haven't skated it yet. Took my youngest right after it opened and felt like a kid again watching people carve it up. Immediately went to Banner park cause I knew no one would be there to mock the old man trying to skate vert for the first time in 20 years. It all came back quickly.
The park seems busy all the time. Lots of kids just sitting atop the 9ft, feet dangling, no skate boards. I was hoping to get some new gear and start hitting some early AM sessions there.

I agree that the park can be mad sometimes with the amount of kids that just go when ever. I have found that eraly mornings are the best time, 6am early! I have also noticed that the vert qt is making a hollow sound when you hit the bottom of it, i wonder if the backfill is no longer filling the void! Joe

Ya smitty, it seems like the early dawn hours work the best so far. However, last time there, we had just 2 other beginner bicycle riders there before or around 9 and that's all it took to distract the session to where you're always wondering "where are they"? I think the next time I trek down to Lees Summit to sk8 will be on a weekday morning after school starts up again.

I drive by it everyday. Once you get past 10am the park fills up. Don't even bother going at night I drove by it the other night and it was more of a hang out than a skate park. The entire top tier of the 10ft was filled w/ kids. Many sitting with their feet over the copping and into the vert. I went today at 8am and was all alone. Nice.

Great 9 foot ramp there to hit some airs and killer flow to the bowl area and I like the large Euro's too. Good addition.
