This really is a huge place to skate. But the concrete is so ruff and the metal coping is falling apart, it sort of hard to skate. It's still a fun place to skate.
That Genesis guy should put some pics up.

At least for myself, this is where I got back into skating transitions; this is where I relearned many moves; saw a lot of excellent pro. demos; put on two contest; and got injured twice: one broken, right ankle and one slightly torn Achilles tendon; and finally, this is where I met a lot of other skaters' who I still skate with today. Noah and I just went by there tonight and the lights were on, but there is a 12:00am curfew, which keeps the rift-raft away; plus the new North Patrol Police Station and Training Center is to the east of it. Yes, it's in need of repairs, which the City P&R Dept. is willing to help do, but the repairs might not happen anytime soon. Once the repairs happen, the Park will be better to ride. The maintenance needs to happen or the Park won't be ridable in the near future. Only bikers will have any fun in it. Although I don't ride there that often, if it wasn't for this park, I would have not gotten back into side-walking surfing until the better parks had come along.

I agree with johnf and wedge. I met a good portion of the KC crew here back when it was the only skatepark in KC and my return to skating would have been on hold for a few more years until the better parks got built without this place. I still enjoy riding here. It's a great place to work on tricks. Given that this place has lights and that aren't any other real parks in the Northland, I'd be willing to bet this place sees more skaters [and bikers] per day than any other park around KC.

Wow, skated here this morning. I'm sure at one point this place was fun, but I got cause in a couple of the expanding cracks and was wobbled off my board more than once. It looks sooooooo fun, but I don't have the improv skills to skate something that rough. Spoiled is what I am.

You know panictim, I used to be really negative on this place. Then I started approaching it with a ditch mentality instead of a bowl mentality and now I really like it again. There are some fun lines and unique quirks about this place that are actually pretty cool. If you ever feel like riding it again, shoot me a line and I'll try to meet you over there.
