I was talking with Dan from Escapist about hosting a local art show with helmets as the art piece(s). For example: I have two or three helmets from the 70's with pictures of me wearing them. Put the picture, with a story behind it, in a frame, next to a helmet on a manikins head. Do this with several helmets and riders' including bikers' and it might turn out to be a one-of-a-kind art show. I'm not aware of any local art shows of this style, and it would be for a great cause: helmet safety and traumatic brain injures. We could ask for donations at this artistic venue, etc. Like a skateboard(s) graphic(s), any helmet would be worth looking at, not only as a helmet but as a lifesaving piece of art. Next time you are out sk8ing, before you strap it on, just stop for a minute, and look at the art work it already has on it, the shape, stickers, etc. Anyways, Dan thinks it a good concept and will talk it over with Nick and get back with me. Until then, later......!

This sounds good John. I don't have anything left from back in the day but it would be cool to see some of the head gear, stickers and art that went on our helmets back then. I sometimes still think about buying a re-issue ProTec Classic Full helmet which is the one that comes down over your ears and would actually protect your temple area in a side impact.
I'd like to help and support however possible?

Love it - consider expanding the idea and having local artists use a helmet as a canvas. Sell them for charity. Combined with the old stuff/pictures it would be awesome. Might be able to get Blackhart to send his flyaway that he was wearing at Laguna Seca when he fell in head to head down hill - near 60 mph - it's got a HUGE area that was sanded by the asphault.

That would Rock&Roll MC, and thanks for the support ladies and germs. I'll keep us posted and have a format of the art show, when I'm out sk8ing, this Friday or Saturday. Until then, later......!

One week before "Death Race II," I will be at this same park helping, with others, to patch up as many cracks as we can. If anyone would like to come out and help out in any way, please let me know. This was one of the 1st free, public concrete parks in OUR sk8 area and it sparked a significant change that we OUR all now just benefiting from. Let's keep this positive flow moving forward, especially if you or your kids sk8, bike, etc. "Death Race II" will take place after the helmet art show; both dates are on July 09, 2011. For more info., please contact me via email, face book or phone. Thanks for the support!
